GLHL's top teams meet tonight in Calumet
2017-12-16Tonight the GLHL's top two teams meet at the Calumet Colosseum for some old time hockey. Puck drop is slated for 7:30.
This will be the second of four scheduled games between the Wolverines and Mutineers, who played a total of fives games against each other during the 2016-17 season. The Mutineers won four of those five games, including an 11-4 victory in the round robin bracket of the 2017 GLHL Tournament. The Wolverines won the first game between the two teams this year, defeating Marquette 9-5 at Meadowbrook Arena in L'Anse. The teams were scheduled to meet last night in Marquette, but a scheduling error forced the game to be canceled.
Marquette is currently leading the Great Lakes Hockey League with a 4-0-1 start. The Mutineers also own the top scorer early in the season, with last year's leading scorer Dallas McLaughlin who has 15 points through five games.
Calumet is currently tied for second with a 3-0-0 record in league play and 4-0-0 overall. Ed Beiring is currently third in the league in points (12) and goals (6) Logan Rastello is sixth with 11 points and Rory Anderson is tied for sixth in the league with six assists. Ian Carroll is tied for the league lead with a 2.00 goals against average and is one off the league lead with two wins.
Scheduled to make their season debut for the Wolverines tonight is defensemen Cody Carlson, forward Eric Bausano and goaltender Bryan Miller.
