Your Wolverines came from behind to win Friday, but a hot start for the Pioneers was too much to overcome Saturday. The same two teams battle next week, Friday in Houghton Saturday in Calumet.

After the Pioneers took a 3-2 lead two minutes into the final frame Friday night, the Wolverines woke up. Ed Beiring scored one, Josh Harju got the next two and Logan Rastello iced it with an empty netter as Calumet started the weekend with a decisive 6-3 home win.

Bryan Miller made 31 saves in his regular season debut and is now 3-0-0 on the season. Eric Bausano and Cody Carlson also added goals.

One minute into the game the Wolverines hadn't controlled the puck, had two minutes of penalties and were down 2-0. Things didn't get much better as the Dee Stadium proved to be a hostile atmosphere for the Wolverines.

When the dust settled, the Pioneers had a 10-3 victory as both teams moved to 3-2 in Great Lakes Hockey League play. Marc Pomroy had a goal and an assist in his season debut, and Rastello collected a pair of assists. Rory Anderson and Brendan Middleton each netted one.

Hockey's oldest rivalry will be back in action next weekend with the Pioneers hosting Friday's contest and Saturday's game in Calumet.
