Wolverines net eight in victory over Mosinee

Mike Babcock had four points to help lead the Calumet Wolverines over the Mosinee Papermakers 8-5 Saturday night at the Calumet Colosseum.

The Calumet Wolverines never trailed Saturday night as they ended a two-game losing streak with a meaningful victory over one of the Great Lakes Hockey League's top teams. Babcock opened the scoring in the first period, while back-to-back goals by Eric Bausano and Babcock gave the team a 3-0 lead early in the second period. The visitors stormed back to within one before Jeff Erkkila and Brendan Middleton scored to put the Wolverines back up by three heading into the third.

The 'Makers earned three power-play markers on three power plays in the third period, but Rory Anderson, Middleton and Ed Beiring each scored to move the Wolveirnes to 4-2-0 in GLHL play and 9-4-0 overall. 

Ian Carroll earned the win in goal by making 30 saves. Middleton, Anderson and Logan Rastello each had three points in the game, while 11 total players had points. 

The Wolverines will be home again next weekend taking on the Fond du Lac Bears Friday night and Eagle River Falcons Saturday night.

Fans are reminded that the Wolverines are selling apparel in partnership with the concession stand at the rink, meaning apparel can be purchased during all home games and any other time the rink is open. Fans are also reminded that the Wolverines Den upstairs is open the rest of the season with beer, wine and White Claws available.
