Five players score as Wolverines top Pioneers
2018-12-30Eric Bausano, Matt Yeo, Jeff Erkkila, Maxx Fredrickson and Brendan Jacques all scored as the Calumet Wolverines defeated the Portage Lake Pioneers 5-2 Saturday night in Calumet.
The Wolverines won their fourth straight game against their biggest rivals Saturday night, but this time things were a bit sweeter as the Wolverines moved to 2-0-0 in Great Lakes Hockey League regular season play. Calumet is now 7-2-0 overall, while the Pioneers move to 1-5-1 overall and 0-3-0 in GLHL play.
Ryan Patrick earned the win in net to move to 2-0-0 on the season with an impressive .910 save percentage.
Bausano and Erkkila finished with three points each, while Jacques had a multi-point night in his first regular season game with the Wolverines. Trevor Johnson, Logan Ratello and Cody West each added assists in the win.
The Wolverines and Pioneers will play their final game against each other until the Gibson Cup series next weekend as the teams meet at Dee Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, January 5.
