Wolverines finish runner up in GLHL Tournament
2018-03-25The Calumet Wolverines lost to the West Bend Bombers 2-0 in the GLHL Tournament Championship Game Sunday in front of a packed crowd at the Calumet Colosseum.
The Wolverines came into the weekend as the No. 1 seed and took care of business against the No. 9-seeded Monroe Blues Friday night with a 10-2 victory, and then clinched a spot in the semifinals by tiebreaker after a 7-5 loss to the Fox Cities Ice Dogs in the second round robin game.
The Wolveriens got the best of the Ice Dogs on Saturday night, though, winning 5-1 to earn a spot in the championship game. The Wolverines took 16 shots in the third period against the Bombers, but couldn't find a goal and eventually watched as the visiting Bombers won their first Kohlman Cup.
