Nick Patrick puts up four assists as Wolverines dominate De Pere

2018-02-11

The Calumet Wolverines took care of business at home Saturday night as they defeated the De Pere Deacons 10-2 at the Calumet Colosseum to move to 9-2 in Great Lakes Hockey League play and 13-2 overall.

The Wolverines jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period against the one-win Deacons squad, before the Deacons cut the lead to 4-1. The Wolverines owned a 6-2 lead after two periods, and poured it on in the third period to earn a sweep in the season series.

Nick Patrick earned four assists in the contest, likely a career high for the veteran defense-first defenseman who now has six points in five games for the Wolverines this season. Logan Rastello also netted four points in the contest, including two goals.

Ed Beiring and Tyler Loukus had three-point nights, while five players had two points nights. Ryan Patrick earned the win with 20 saves on 22 Deacons shots. He is now 3-0-0 on the season, while being in the top five in the GLHL in save percentage (.871) and goals against average (4.05).

The Wolverines 9-2-0 record is good for third place in the GLHL in terms of points, but the win percentage is second in the league. They’ll look to make a statement next Friday night as the host the first-place Marquette Mutineers at the Colosseum.
