Home opener set for Saturday vs. Fox Cities Ice Dogs
2017-12-07The Wolverines open their 2017-18 home schedule on Saturday night with a rematch against the Fox Cities Ice Dogs. The doors will open at 6:30, and puck drop is slated for 7:30.
The Wolverines and Ice Dogs played an old-time hockey game last Saturday night in Appleton with two fights and 15 total goals. That action will be taken to the historic Calumet Colosseum on Saturday night as the Wolverines play their first of 12 home contests for the 2017-18 season.
This game will be the Wolverines third Great Lakes Hockey League contest as they look to move to 3-0-0. The Ice Dogs are coming in with a 1-2-1 record as they play their fifth game of the young season.
Calumet is led in scoring by Ed Beiring, who has six goals and nine points in five games. Logan Rastello is second on the team with three goals and seven points, including the game winning goal last Saturday against the Ice Dogs in overtime.
The Ice Dogs are led in scoring by Matt Paape, who's five goals ranks third in the GLHL. Matt Hughes is tied for sixth in the league with six assists.
