Wolverines donate $3,500 to Calumet Hockey Association
2017-02-22Tuesday night the Calumet Wolverines donated $3,500 to the Calumet Hockey Association in a pre-game ceremony prior to the team taking on the Portage Lake Pioneers as part of Hockey Week in Calumet.
The check presentation featured six members of the Calumet Wolverines Board of Directors, Paul Lehto from Calumet Township and Joel Tuorimiemi from the Calumet Hockey Association.
“The Wolverines are proud to be part of the Copper Country community, and especially proud to be associated with the Calumet Hockey Association,” a statement from the board said. “More than 80 percent of the Wolverines players came through the association, and we’re always looking forward to seeing the next generation of Calumet hockey players join the Wolverines.
The Wolverines are good stewards of the association as well, providing more than $10,000 each season to the association by the way of renting the ice. The donation of $3,500 to the association is meant for the advancement and continued growth of youth hockey in the area.
