Papermakers sweep Wolverines at Colosseum
2016-12-17The Mosinee Papermakers earned four Great Lakes Hockey League points this weekend by taking both games over the Calumet Wolverines at the Calumet Colosseum.
The visitors won 8-3 Friday night, winning all three periods and getting four points from Brian Bednarczyk and Greg Hanson. Tyler Loukus scored two goals for the Wolverines, while Eric Bausano and Jeff Erkkila also had two points each.
Saturday’s contest was much tighter with the Papermakers narrowly escaping with a 3-2 win. Mosinee got the game’s first goal late in the second period and held that 1-0 lead into the third period. Calumet took a lead midway through the third period with markers from Tyler Froberg and Bausano, but the ‘Makers came storming back to earn the win.
The Wolverines are now 4-5-0 on the season, while Mosinee moves to 5-2-0. Calumet’s next home game is December 31 at 5 p.m. against Portage Lake. The Wolverines are on the road Friday at Eagle River.
