Wolverines announce 2016-17 schedule
2016-11-01The Calumet Wolverines Hockey Club 2016-17 schedule is finalized, and begins this weekend with the Wolverines hosting the Fox Cities Ice Dogs Friday night and Monroe Blues Saturday night at the historic Calumet Colosseum.
The Wolverines will be hosting 13 Great Lakes Hockey League contests, including hosting teams from Appleton, Green Bay, Fond du Lac, West Bend, Monroe, Mosinee and Eagle River, Wisconsin, and Houghton and Marquette, Michigan.
The only change from the 2015-16 GLHL slate is the Marquette Iron Rangers are now under new leadership and are known as the Marquette Mutineers. The Mutineers will visit Calumet in late January.
Highlights of the 2016-17 schedule include back-to-back weekends in January, the home finale February 18 against West Bend and six home games in December, including two-game weekends with rivals Eagle River Falcons and Mosinee Papermakers, and a 5 p.m. start against the Portage Lake PIoneers on New Year's Eve.
The Wolverines and Pioneers will renew the historic Gibson Cup series the final full weekend of March, with the Wolverines hosting game two on Saturday, March 25.
