Pioneers head to Calumet Saturday to play Wolverines
2015-12-21Hockey’s oldest rivalry will be renewed Saturday night with the Portage Lake Pioneers and Calumet Wolverines set to battle at 7:30 p.m.
Calumet is off to a 5-3-0 start, its best start in quite a few seasons, but have now fallen in two of their past three games. Alex VanWagner and Jeff Erkkila are pacing the Wolverines with 14 points.
The Pioneers are the reigning GLHL and Gibson Cup champions, and are off to a 4-2-0 start.
The Wolverines are looking to end an eight-game losing streak against the Pioneers that dates back to March of 2013.
