Calumet fell behind early in the game, but bounced back with a trio of goals in the first period to hold a 3-1 lead. The Pioneers cut the lead to one late in the first period.
After a brief period of time with a tie game in the second period, Erkkila put the Wolverines back up by one, and Babcock netted his second to give the team an insurance marker. The Pioneers responded with a late-period short-handed goal.
Bausano scored his second of the game very early in the third period. The Wolverines then started a parade to the penalty box that setup the Pioneers comeback.
