Struggles continue for Wolverines in losses to Portage Lake
2015-01-04The Calumet Wolverines lost 7-2 and 3-2 this weekend against the Portage Lake Pioneers to fall to 0-7-0 on the season.
The Wolverines fired 70 shots on net over the weekend, but yielded only four goals in the two contests.
Friday night in Calumet the Pioneers held a 5-0 lead after two periods, and made it 6-0 early in the third period. Calumet go goals from Jeff Erkkila and Josh Harju in the contest, and finished the game with a 39-33 shot advantage.
The Wolverines earned a 2-1 lead after two periods in the second game of the weekend with Eric Bausano and Mike Babcock lighting the lamp, but for the fourth time in five games, the Wolverines gave up a one-goal third-period lead.
Calumet is off next weekend, and back at home on Saturday, January 17 against Fox Cities.
